Working in the studio. |
ABOUT METextile ArtistWorking with donated knitwear rendered unwearable by age or over vigorous washing I create richly textured pictures. Often inspired by literature, myths or legends the pictures are a combination of relief appliqué and dense woollen hand stitching combining pictorial elements with pattern or abstract design.
The sleeves of the aforementioned jumpers are used to make woollen people, softly stuffed and hand stitched. Visitors are welcome to the studio by arrangement. |
I'm taking part in Caversham Arts Trail 2024, it's on over two weekends, May 11th -12th and 18th - 19th. Do visit, 43 artists/makers over 20 venues. www.cavershamartstrail.co.uk
Until November 2020 I have a piece of work, Running With Wolves, in the Madejski Gallery at Reading Museum as part of an exhibition of animals in art.
The museum is well worth a visit for local history including mosaic panels and artefacts from Silchester Roman ruins. It also houses the only full sized replica of the Bayeux Tapestry made in 1886 by 35 needlewomen from Leek in Staffordshire, very well worth a visit!
